Just to the south of Siesta lies Casey Key. You won't find any chain hotels here. This is "old Florida" at its best. A quaint collection of inns is a stroll away from the public beach access and marina rentals.
Entering Casey Key at the town of Nokomis, you are embraced by vestiges of Old Florida. Casey Key Road, which traverses the island, is a winding, bending, and at times breathtakingly thin and scenic thoroughfare.
Covered in a canopy of tropical trees, the winding Gulf-front street will make for an unforgettable "Sunday drive" among some of Sarasota's most sought-after homes. The twisty curves and little traffic also make for a great bike ride.

The beaches on Casey Key are as lovely as its Old Florida setting. Located at the south end of Casey Key directly across the harbor from Venice, North Jetty Park has a lot to offer. The park lays claim to nearly a thousand feet of wide, breezy beach, bay and gulf access, and excellent fishing from the jetty.
At certain time of the year the park is one of the best surfing spots on the Gulf of Mexico.
Sarasota County's oldest public beach, Nokomis Beach encompasses 22 acres of recreation area with a gulf beach that runs for one-third mile. Popular with families, the beach has ample free parking, picnic pavilions, a snack bar, and lifeguards. A boat ramp is located on the Intracoastal Waterway.
